Studies have shown that most successful people read books for self-improvement rather than for entertainment purposes.  Basically, the study concluded that some of the more successful people in the world all shared reading as a past time.

Looking at the statistics on this and it is freely available on the internet, you will see the higher earning bracket in society tend to read more than the lower earning bracket,  which does not make sense at first, as you would think that the higher earning bracket should have less disposable time than the lower earning bracket  But once you start reading through the data you will see that the people who are reading more, just use their time better.

Now I myself do not have time for reading a physical book. We all have demanding jobs, families who need our time and focus etc. But I do however like to listen to a good audio book, which I do when I am driving to and from my various commitments. Not necessarily the same as reading a tangible book, but I’m still “ingesting” the same material, just using a different medium.

People who read or listen to books to improve inevitably gain knowledge, this knowledge builds and builds and helps you grow as an individual. I read an article not so long ago about Elon Musk and in the article, he was asked where he learnt to build rockets, and his answer was “I read it in a book”.

So, whether you are reading or listening to books, keep on reading for improvement rather than for entertainment, improve yourself and achieve success
